Safeguarding and Child Protection
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is always an absolute priority at Wellington School
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff are dedicated to:
- Protecting children from maltreatment
- Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
- Acting to enable all children to have the best outcomes and thrive into adulthood
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Wellington School is Kathryn Shelley (Deputy Headteacher).
The DSL takes lead responsibility for child protection and wider safeguarding in the school.
When the DSL is absent, the Deputy DSLs are Samantha Norbury (Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo), Michael Tomlinson (Assistant Headteacher) and Leanne Vitalis (Attendance Manager) will act as cover.
If the DSL and DDSL are not available, the SLT in charge of the relevant Key Stage will act as cover (Louise Stephens- KS5, Kathryn Shelley- KS4 and Michael Tomlinson- KS3)
