Music News
It is fantastic to see many of our students participating in music activities not only in the Department but also taking advantage of the opportunities that our local music service and organisations offer.
Lucas in Year 8 recently spent the day at Cheetham’s School Of Music, the UK’s largest specialist music school, for a full day brass workshop with other students from across Greater Manchester. They spent the day training with specialist brass teachers and guest musicians, and at the end of day, they performed on stage in an ensemble and played 3 pieces of music they learnt that day. I know that Lucas has attended one of these events before and has thoroughly enjoyed it.
Charisse also had an opportunity of a lifetime through Trafford Music Service. She writes, “I was extremely fortunate to be one of 12 students from Trafford Music Service invited by Jersey Music Service to perform with them. It was a fantastic opportunity and an unforgettable experience—I had so much fun and loved every moment of it. Even though it was a short trip, we made the most of it, and in the end, it became a memorable experience I will never forget.”
Trafford Music Service have also shared two opportunities as part of the GM Music Hub: GM Youth Show Choir and a new ensemble, the GM Folk Ensemble. Details are attached and as always if you take part in any of these – or any other musical opportunities – then please make sure you let us know.
