Maths Club
It was all hands to the cardboard cutting, sticking and glue guns this week as the Sierpiński Christmas tree was finally completed. It was a combined effort from our Years 7, 8 and 12 mathematicians, with 4^4 (256) tetrahedrons glued together plus 7 for the star on top. The fractal design was named after the polish mathematician, Wacław Franciszek Sierpiński (1882 – 1969) and our ‘tree’ is the effect of stacking 4 fractal units on top of each other. I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s an impressive Christmas tree. 🎄
Happy Christmas everyone and looking forward to more mathematical challenges at Maths club in the New Year.
