Bowdon Choir
Just before half term we were lucky enough to be visited by 3 members of the Bowdon Church Choir who spoke to our singers about the opportunities available to choristers at Bowdon. They were very impressed with the interest that our students showed and it would be a fantastic opportunity for any young chorister.
They are still recruiting singers of all ages and abilities and are very keen to develop talent; enthusiasm and a love of singing are the most important requirements. Where necessary, tuition will be given in reading music. There is no requirement to have a religious belief.
As I have mentioned previously the church run a scholarship scheme for more advanced singers aged 14-19. Selection for this is based on enthusiasm and experience, ability to read music and an audition. The scheme will pay the selected singers £100 a term, which will be dependent on commitment. Students who apply and are not granted a scholarship will still be very welcome to join us, and will be eligible in future years if they show sufficient progress in their skills.
The deadline for the current round of choral scholarship applications is 31 December 2024; auditions will take place early in the new year.
