Ada Lovelace Day

Ada Lovelace day is celebrated every October to recognise the contributions of women in STEM, which are sometimes overlooked. We were lucky enough to be able to take 19 students to MONY Group – which have brands including MoneySuperMarket – for an industry experience event. The students got to meet inspiration people in the technology sector and discovered the various career pathways they took, including a degree apprenticeship. We heard about the varied roles in the technology sector – it’s not all about coding! Students took part in practical workshops, improving their teamworking skills and understanding how changing requirements means that digital products are always changing. They worked with Micro:bit computers to make products with embedded code. It was a fantastic experience for our students, giving them a feel of what life is like in the tech sector.
