Ada Lovelace Day
Last Tuesday was Ada Lovelace Day, which celebrates the achievements of women in STEM subjects. Ada Lovelace was a pioneer who is considered the first programmer. To celebrate, the Computing department took a group of Year 9 students to the Spinningfields offices of MoneySuperMarket. They were able to meet inspirational women who work in tech and heard about their career pathways. There were practical sessions coding MicroBits, hacking a vulnerable website and critical thinking. It was a fantastic experience for out students but I think they were most pleased with the free slush that was available on tap!
