Maths Club – Columbus Cubes

In celebration of World Origami Day, on 11th November, we had a go at assembling our own tower of Columbus cubes. Participants of Maths Club made a special design of a cube, in that one vertex was turned inside out so that with some careful manoeuvring they could be stacked to form a tower. Our challenge was to build a tower of more than five cubes! As you can see from our photos, students raised to the challenge and we cheered with each extra cube placed after five! In the end we had a magnificent total of eight stacked cubes but Mrs Heaton wasn’t fast enough with the camera! We have photographic evidence of 7, but watch this space to see if we make more …
