Iceland Trip

On Saturday 9th November – Tuesday 12th November  the Geography department took 42 students (from Year 11 and Year 13) to Iceland, as expected the students represented Wellington amazingly and got stuck in with all the activities. Thank you to Lily M (Year 11) for writing the overview of our trip below, I could not have said it better.

Miss Baker

The trip to Iceland was a jam-packed trip with a range of fun activities; from a nice relaxing trip in the Sky Lagoon to braving the down pour to go behind the waterfalls. We were spoilt by the array of food in the evenings: “square-burgers” as Ms Baker calls them, a lovely fish and chips topped off with a lovely meal on the last night, pizza. We didn’t go hungry (we won’t mention lunches). We visited many places including Reykjanes Peninsula, Icelandic lava show, Sky Lagoon, Hellishiedi Geothermal Power Station, Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisfjara, Lava center Hollsvollur, Gullfoss, Geysir, Thingvellir. Our favourites being the Sky Lagoon where we were able to experience the spa, another favourite (though we got drenched) was going round the back of the waterfall. In the evenings the fun didn’t end as Ms Baker introduced Jungle Speed to us; we had lots of fun laughing and being competitive. We couldn’t tell you about this trip without mentioning the awesome teachers on this trip: Ms Baker, Miss Hennessy, Mrs Conyers and Mr Holt. The planning and preparation gave us time to spare, and always meant we were able to enjoy our time at the sites. They brought laughter and enthusiasm to the trip, helping make this wonderful experience even better.
