Bastille Day
On Monday 15th July, we welcomed 170 children from three local primary schools and led them in a carousel of different activities around the theme of the French Revolution for our Primary Bastille Day event. Each station allowed the pupils to use a variety of skills and learn a bit more about French history and culture, as well as practising some vocabulary they already knew. This included; a game of pétanque (French boules), learning La Marseillaise (French National Anthem), using French vocabulary to colour in flags of French-speaking countries, building an Eiffel Tower out of lolly sticks, completing a quiz on Bastille Day, and dressing up to re-enact the storming of the Bastille. Of course, none of this was possible without the help of some enthusiastic and generous pupils from years 7, 9 and 12 who motivated the year 4 students to complete their tasks within the time frame.
A huge thank you all of those pupils involved.
