Apprenticeship Seminar

On Tuesday, our Year 11 and Sixth Form students attended seminars based around the plethora of apprenticeship opportunities which are open to them as post-16 and post-18 options. The seminars were delivered by Matt Leigh of the Greater Manchester Learning Network and he used real case-studies of recent Wellington leavers to provide examples of the variety of apprenticeship levels available to young people – we have seen an increase in the number of our students embarking on Level 2, Higher and Degree apprenticeships over the past few years.

Students were shown live examples of apprenticeships which are on offer in our local area and were also guided towards how to search and apply for available positions. Students can easily search for live vacancies, webinars and advice on their Unifrog account https://www.unifrog.org/sign-in but the following websites are also fabulous sources of information: www.apprenticeships.gov.uk and www.amazingapprenticeships.com

The apprenticeship seminars were just the beginning of this week’s careers offer at Wellington. You can read about visiting speakers who addressed audiences of Geographers and Politics students elsewhere in this week’s news.
