Music News
Thank you to all the performers who have worked incredibly hard to prepare for the Awards Evening which was held on Tuesday evening. All the performances were absolutely amazing but my personal highlights were the new Year 7 students, supported by the KS3 Rock Band singing ‘Mountain’ by the wonderful Sam Ryder, ‘Brighter Days’ where all of our 100 performers and over 250 Year 7s performed and the String Orchestra’s debut performance, led by Ellen Thomas-Anderson and Seiji Ivision.
I am delighted that we have over 200 students receiving specialist instrumental tuition from our team of peripatetic teachers, and most now do have a waiting list. All of these students should be contributing to our extra curricular activities and ensembles, details below. Miss Shaw, our brass teacher, will be running a new brass ensemble each Tuesday lunchtime in Room 18 and all brass players are welcome and encouraged to attend so please let us know if your child is receiving brass tuition outside of school and would like to get involved.
Our extra curricular programme will be up and running from Monday onwards and details of individual activities can be found below. They are also published weekly on our Music Bulletin. For all lunchtime activities students can either bring a packed lunch and eat this in the classroom or go and grab their sandwich at break time. We also try to make sure that the biscuit box is full!
