Year 12 Bonding Day
Only 3 days into term and Year 12’s time in Sixth Form got off to a bang with a visit to Liverpool John Moores University and Wild Shore Aqua Park in Delamere for our annual Bonding Day.
In the morning, our new Sixth Formers took part in a carousel of workshops delivered by university staff and undergraduate advocates on a variety of themes relating to Higher Education: ‘Choosing a Course and Choosing a University’, a subject taster session and ‘Student Life’. They were also treated to a campus tour including the state of the art Student Hub building and sports facilities. The thinking behind this visit is to encourage our students to begin to consider their goals and choices post-A level as soon as they can in their 2 year journey through Sixth Form, to explore opportunities and the various pathways on offer. We hope their time at LJMU inspired and excited them.
After lunch in one of the student cafes, we headed off to Delamere for an afternoon of water sports in the sunshine. It was great to see all of our students having fun and taking part with gusto. Mr Stafford and Mr Morgan, 2 of our Year 12 tutors, also took the plunge!
A fabulous time was had by everyone and it was lovely for staff and students to spend time getting to know one another. Feedback from staff at both LJMU and Wild Shore was incredibly complimentary. Our students made an excellent impression and we were extremely proud of them; it was a pleasure to spend time in their company.
