Media Studies Trip
On Tuesday, students from 10C Media Studies visited the BBC studios at Quay House in Media City, Salford Quays. During the visit, we had a Q&A session with researchers, a journalist and an apprentice at BBC Sport, who gave us an insight into what working at the BBC – and in the media industry in general – is like and the skills and qualities that are needed to be successful within the industry. It was excellent to get the ‘inside track’ from Katie, Katie, Becky and Elizabeth and it no doubt inspired and gave food for thought to our students who are considering a career within the media.
We then had a tour of Quay House and saw the journalists and production teams at work. We saw what happens behind the scenes at BBC Sport and Five Live and everything that has to be done to get the finished content on to our screens and airways: it was quite eye-opening to see and hear all the different parts of this process.
Thank you to Miss McCann and Mr Beeley for accompanying us on the visit and a huge thank you to Mrs Coombs (mother of Penny in Year 9 and Daisy in Year 12) who co-ordinated the visit for us and was our ‘host with the most’ for the day!
