Pride Month Webinar
A group of students from Years 8-10 took part in a Pride Month webinar hosted by the Faith and Belief Forum. We joined schools across the UK on Zoom to hear from different people of faith and their own personal experiences of identifying as LGBTQ+ alongside their religious and spiritual beliefs. Students heard from Giles Goddard, a Church of England vicar, his partner Shanon Shah, a Malaysian-Muslim tutor at the University for London, Daniella Shaw, a queer, Jewish sociologist and Carrie Alderton, Head of Programmes and Impact at the Faith and Belief forum. The speakers were open and honest about their life experiences and how they feel that their faith can co-exist with their sexual and gender identity.
Our students asked some fantastic questions – so many that not all could be answered! The knowledge gained from this session is invaluable for the GCSE REP theme of Relationships and Families which requires students to understand different religious approaches to matters of sexuality.
