World Book Day in the Languages Department
Students have been enjoying a variety of book-inspired language activities this week. Some Year 8 classes listened to “Les Trois Petits Cochons” (The Three Little Pigs) being told and focused on their French pronunciation to prepare them for writing and reading aloud their own fairy-tale. There were some excellent stories and the enthusiasm for story-telling in French was inspiring! Some classes focused on Alice au Pays des Merveilles (Alice in Wonderland) and practised reading and writing descriptions of characters. Year 13 French students learnt about some of the classics and philosophical French writers, including Voltaire and Simone de Beauvoir, collecting some encouraging philosophical quotations and mantras for life along the way (see below.) Of course, the MFL department staff also got involved in the dressing up!
