Shakespeare at the Cinema

This Wednesday, Wellington English Department took a select group of Year 10 students to Stockport Light Cinema to see the ‘National Theatre Live!’ release of Much Ado About Nothing! Some of our pupils study this brilliant Shakespearean comedy as part of their GCSE Literature course!

We hopped on a mini-bus, guzzled lots of fizzy-pop and popcorn and headed to the Messina which – in this excellent and well-reviewed production – had become a snazzy 1920s’ hotel in Italy.

I was delighted to hear that the students ‘got’ it, despite only being a few scenes into the play! What a bright bunch! 🙂

Thanks to all the students who attended for being polite, investing in their Shakespeare studies and getting cultural with me!
