The 6% Club – promoting diversity within Finance

On Wednesday 28^th September six female 6^th formers were invited to Ernst & Young at St Peter’s Square for an evening of networking with business women from the world of financing and technology.

It was a fantastic evening and we were honoured to have Hayley Roberts as our key speaker. Hayley, who is the CEO of Distology, has nurtured a unique company culture that encourages vibrancy and ambition and as a result has won various accolades as well as being seen as a leading voice of authority within the industry. She recently presented a TEDx talk to empower more people to choose a career in technology and is a regional judge for the 2022 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

The atmosphere was supportive and our young ladies were introduced to the room. The key speaker gave a motivational speech and encouraged the audience to increase their contact with schools. This was evident straight away as a number of business women came across to the students and introduced themselves giving them a synopsis of their careers so far and the pros and cons of university vs apprenticeship pathways.

The students were able to network and I am pleased that a number of the attendees have promised to remain in contact with the school and arrange a visit in the near future.
